We have a nuclear Navy with no problems..why not! BTW nobody doesn't want Iran to have a nuclear power plant, it is their possible use of making a bomb.!

The issue of waste will need to be addressed before any significant ramp up is going to occur

The government doesn't want to give up the money they make on oil leases.

Nuclear will never work. they are economical risky and also risky in security and environment. Nuclear in not viable, to produce the actual demand of energy one nuclear plan per day have to be build from now to 2050. That's obviously impossible We import 60 % of the oil. we can reduce 50% of what we consume with conservation and efficiency like California is doing now. If every state have same efficiency, conservation and pollution standards than California will need half of the energy that we use now. Also that's very good for jobs that can no be outsourced to India or China or wherever. and then part of the solution is supporting clean sustainable energies, solar, wind, geothermal, small hydroelectric, tides, etc. NOT NUCLEAR and NOT FOSSIL FUELS.
What do you think? If we don't want that other countries use Nuclear energy , eg: Iran we should use it ourselves neither. If Solar and wind would be cheaper we can produce the solar panel and wind turbines in china with American patents and that sell them to Iran. they would have energy for their people and will prevent any conflict and arguments

I would welcome more nuclear power over burning fossil fuels. If only our politicians actually could grow a backbone.

The first Manhattan Project built a new industry that was the size of the automotive industry before WWII.

The Brits seem to cut the chase and lay down the facts. Unlike the American press "spin for hire" data stream.

This is all just an idea of what Obama can do. He works with politics, were some of the members of his own party as well as opposite party disagree with things.
There is a good chance that this story is short data.

I recommend that the U.K. marshal their enormous "old money" wealth to accomplish this "new" Manhattan Project! Go for it blokes.
